Everyone knows how special of a season New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas has had, but he led the league in a very surprising stat. Thomas was the league leader in yards per route run from the slot coming in at an average of 3.63. Tyreek Hill of the Kansas City Chiefs and DeAndre Hopkins of the Houston Texans come in second and third on the list.

Thomas ran routes in the slot and also on the outside and it led to quite the special season. Thomas finished the regular season with 1,405 yards and nine touchdowns. With the 1,405 yards, Thomas passed Joe Horn for the most receiving yards in franchise history and as young as he is, as long as he stays healthy there should be a lot more records being broken in his future.

As impressive as Thomas has been, he still doesn't get talked about a ton and that is something that keeps a chip on his shoulder.

“I just want to be judged on the progress I make year in and year out,” Thomas said via The Advocate. “I just kept fighting on the field to play a play whenever a chance presented itself and gave a lot of effort to help my team win, and eventually good things happen, and I got it.”

Most importantly for Thomas, the Saints are having success and currently sit in the top spot in the NFC and have home field throughout the playoffs. The Saints have a bye this week and will wait to find out who their opponent will be next week.
