The New Orleans Saints finalized their 53-man roster for the 2019 season but they still will have decisions to make in the following weeks. On Saturday, rookie defensive end Carl Granderson was reinstated to the NFL following his arrest.

Back on August 26th, the rookie pass-rusher was released from jail by a Wyoming district judge. Granderson was expected to serve a six-month sentence in jail but was reinstated by the NFL upon his early release. With his reinstatement, the Saints will have two weeks to decide what they want to do with him.

The arrest occurred in February, stemming from an incident where two women accused Granderson of sexually assaulting them last November. At first, Granderson pleaded no contest to the allegations but his plea deal was denied and he was sentenced to jail in July. As a result of his hearing, New Orleans was required to place him on the Commissioner's Exempt List.

After the 2019 NFL Draft, the Saints signed Granderson as an undrafted rookie out of Wyoming. At Wyoming, Granderson totaled 16.5 sacks, 35.5 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles. Standing at 6-foot-5, 260 pounds, the Saints were intrigued with his potential to rush off of the edge.

Coming into training camp, it was already going to be a slim chance that Granderson made the 53-man roster for the 2019 season. His arrest made things even tougher on himself as he missed valuable time with the team during the preseason.

It would be surprising to see the undrafted rookie remain in New Orleans but Sean Payton will have the ultimate say on whether or not he deserves a roster spot.
