One of the greatest sidekicks in NBA history is out there defending the Batman to his Robin. That’s former Chicago Bulls do-it-all forward Scottie Pippen, who immediately lashed out at fellow basketball Hall of Famer and former Detroit Pistons point guard Isiah Thomas following the latter’s bold proclamation that he would side with LeBron James in a matchup with Michael Jordan.

During an appearance on ESPN’s The Jump on Friday, Scottie Pippen took on Thomas’ comment head on in a passionate defense of his running mate.

Here are some parts of what Pippen said in text, via Satchel Price of the Chicago Sun Times.

“Michael Jordan is the greatest player to ever put on shoes and play in our game,” Pippen said. “I’m always asked to compare him to LeBron, and I try to make the best of it. But really, the comparison shouldn’t ever be made.”

“There’s no game I would ever play in and pick LeBron James over Michael Jordan,” Pippen said. “No game.”

During their time, Jordan and Pippen won six NBA titles together with the Bulls. Their relationship was forged forever by their journey towards each of the numerous successful seasons they had in Chicago, so it only makes sense for Pippen to be this unwavering of his support of Jordan. That said, Pippen made his defense of Jordan sound as though he was not only reacting based on sentimentality, as he also insinuated that Isiah Thomas was merely bitter (or envy) of Michael Jordan and his accomplishments as a basketball player.

With all that said, we are not expecting Pippen and Thomas hanging out in a bar together anytime soon.
