There has been plenty of buzz surrounding former New York Jets star safety Jamal Adams these past two weeks, but the new Seattle Seahawks defensive back is instead focused on another non-football-related important issue: justice for slain Louisville resident Breonna Taylor.

Adams, 24, traded to the NFC West club from the Jets last Saturday for three draft picks, two of which are future first-rounders, opened his press availability for the first time with the Seahawks demanding justice for the 26-year-old Taylor via NBC Sports Northwest's Joe Fann.

Taylor was killed by Louisville Metro police officers back in March of this year when law enforcement executed a no-knock warrant on the EMT's boyfriend's place of residence, with Taylor shot and killed in the crossfire of bullets flying. Jamal Adams joins many professional athletes using their platforms to be outspoken about the pending investigation.

Only one of three officers on the scene were fired from their posts in the police department in spite of mounting pressure from the public and large, peaceful demonstrations for accountability in law enforcement, particularly in the case of an impossibly high number of slain African-American men and women.

Houston Texans wide receiver Kenny Stills, for example, participated in a demonstration in Louisville earlier this month to demand justice for Breonna at the house of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, where he was arrested along with other protestors (charges were dropped).

Adams joins the Seahawks at a tumultuous time in the United States, with the NFL expected to gear up (without a preseason) for the 2020 season during the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing protests and uprisings against police brutality.
