After they missed the playoffs for the first time since 2011, the Seattle Seahawks (9-7) made another big shakeup to their coaching staff on Wednesday afternoon when they fired assistant head coach and offensive line coach Tom Cable.

According to the official Twitter account of Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network and Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, Cable was fired by the Seahawks on Wednesday after being with the team since 2011.

This comes immediately after the news of longtime Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, who has also been a member of the Seattle coaching staff since Cable joined prior to the 2011-12 NFL season, was also relieved of his coaching duties.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was asked about what he expected regarding what he expected with assistant head coaching vacancies in Seattle during a press conference last week.

“There’s guys up for jobs now, and this is that time of year when stuff happens, and we’ll see what goes on,” Carroll said. “I think a lot of respect is to be dealt to these guys. They have families and lives and careers and dreams and hopes as we all do, and we’ll see what happens. I’ve always been here to help our guys, and I want them to go and do what they’re capable of doing and meet their challenges of their lifetime as well, and I’m up for that. When it works out, I do everything I can to help them and we’ll see what happens.”

Although they still managed to finish with a 9-7 record, Seattle was absolutely decimated with injuries throughout the 2017-18 season and looks to immediately turn things around next season.
