Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin has officially been ruled out for the team's Monday night game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Baldwin has been dealing with a groin injury, which caused him to miss the practices leading up to the showdown against the Vikings.

He was initially listed as questionable for the matchup but is officially inactive, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

The eight-year pro has 37 receptions for 388 yards and two touchdowns this season while continuing to play a prominent role in the Seattle passing game.

But now the Seahawks must search elsewhere for offensive production in what figures to be a crucial game for both teams in primetime.

Pete Carroll's team currently sits at 7-5 on the season, which is good enough for the No. 5 spot in the NFC at the moment. On the flip side, the Vikings aren't far behind at 6-5-1, and that has Kirk Cousins and company as the sixth-seed entering tonight's game at CenturyLink Field.

So, having Baldwin out of action isn't exactly ideal, but Russell Wilson should still be able to provide an efficient attack against the Vikings' defense.

Getting a win against Minnesota would be huge for Seattle's playoff hopes, especially considering what's left on the regular season schedule.

The Seahawks will have to go up against the Kansas City Chiefs a few days before Christmas, but the other two games remaining are against two struggling teams in the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals.

That makes it pretty clear just how important a win over the Vikings would be for this Seattle squad.
