The Seattle Seahawks have an interesting offseason ahead of them. Quarterback Russell Wilson could return to Seattle, or he could seek to play out the rest of his career in an offensive environment where he'll be allowed to prove he's capable of doing the things that other elite signal-callers are capable of. If Wilson does return, the Seahawks will undoubtedly have to make some moves in order to better position themselves in the crowded NFC West. When it comes to the 2022 NFL offseason, there are several ways the Seahawks can go, as they currently boast a hefty amount of cap space. That figure can grow if the team is willing to make some difficult decisions. That said, here are four bold predictions for the Seahawks in the 2022 NFL offseason.

4 Bold Predictions For The Seahawks In The 2022 NFL Offseason
4. The Seahawks cut Chris Carson
For a run-heavy team like the Seahawks, cutting one of their best halfbacks would seem like a poor move, especially considering that Carson, 27, would still seem to have a fair amount of football left in him. However, after back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in years two and three, Carson has succumbed to injures in each of the last two seasons, playing in 16 games combined in those campaigns. By cutting Carson, the Seahawks would be saving around $3.4 million, which could be money needed to build a better team around Wilson. Besides, the Seahawks have seen enough from backup running back Rashaad Penny, admittedly an injury risk of his own, to hand him the keys to the backfield.

The Seahawks have struggled mightily to protect Wilson during his career. If armed with enough cap space, how could the Seahawks justify passing on the best free agent offensive tackle if Wilson does decide to stick around? Seattle needs to pay up for Armstead, 30, who might prove to be too expensive for the New Orleans Saints to retain. The veteran tackle has consistently ranked among the game's best pass protectors and would bring a new element to a Seahawks line that has allowed Wilson to be sacked 40 or more times in eight of the ten seasons in his career. Bringing in Armstead would allow the Seahawks to protect Wilson's blindside for the remaining years of his prime.
2. The Seahawks draft edge rusher Arnold Ebiketie
Arnold Ebiketie isn't the biggest name. However, the Penn State product could inject some life into a stale Seahawks pass rush, which was one of the worst in the league last season. Ebiketie came into his own in his final season with the Nittany Lions, racking up 9.5 sacks. In such a stacked draft class for edge rushers, Ebiketie might fall to day two, where Seattle can pounce and scoop him up.
1. Russell Wilson returns to Seattle
This isn't particularly bold, given who you ask. However, the bevy of rumors surrounding Wilson suggests that he is, at the very least, open to being elsewhere. It will come down to what Wilson himself wants. Maybe he realizes that he wants to be known more for his loyalty to the Seahawks than anything else. Maybe the Seahawks sweeten a possible return by promising to modernize their offense, a la “Let Russ Cook.” Either way, Wilson will decide that his best chance to win comes with Seattle- and the 12th Man will be very happy at some point in the offseason.
