The Seattle Seahawks Week 16 matchup against the Chicago Bears is one of the very few this weekend without playoff implications. Yes, technically the Seahawks are not eliminated officially. But after last week's loss to the divisional rival Los Angeles Rams, the Seahawks are all but dead.

In the loss, Seahawks fans and fans around the NFL point to one of the more egregious missed pass interference calls in recent memory.

There were less than three minutes remaining with Seattle down a touchdown. On 4th and 6, Russell Wilson chucked the ball up to DeeJay Dallas, who was clearly interfered with. Yet, a flag was not thrown on the play. Seattle turned the ball over on downs and ended up losing 20-10.

The loss dropped Seattle to 5-9 on the season, two games behind the Minnesota Vikings for the final wild card spot. This week, Seattle looks to bounce back against a team even worse off than they are; the Chicago Bears.

Here are my Seattle Seahawks Week 16 bold predictions.

Seahawks Week 16 Predictions vs. Chicago Bears

4. Bobby Wagner has a monster game

Seattle Seahawks Pro Bowl linebacker Bobby Wagner once again is having an outstanding season. He leads the NFL with 158 tackles and has been one of the few bright spots for Seattle's defense. This week, he will shine once again.

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy has already announced that third-string quarterback Nick Foles will be the starter Sunday.

Justin Fields is dealing with an ankle injury and will likely be the listed backup. The normal backup quarterback, Andy Dalton, was cleared from the COVID-19 protocol this week, but was ruled out with a hand injury. That leaves Nick Foles as the lone healthy quarterback.

Chicago's offense had already been struggling, even with a semi-competent quarterback under center. With Foles in there, the Seahawks defense should continue playing well. The last three games, Seattle is allowing less than 19 points per game. Wagner will be right in the middle of another strong defensive performance.

3. Tyler Lockett catches two bombs Sunday

The Seahawks activated former Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyler Lockett off the league's COVID-19 reserve list this week. He has been by far the team's most effective weapon this year. D.K. Metcalf, even in Lockett's absence last week, could not get a ton going. He turned 12 targets into only six catches for 52 scoreless yards.

Meanwhile, Lockett has once again made a habit this year of catching the deep ball.

Lockett is among the league leaders in deep ball catches, air yards per target and receiving touchdowns. The Bears secondary is the weakness of the defense, and I expect Lockett to hit them up for two long catches. At least one of them will go to the house.

2. Rashaad Penny makes his case for next season

The Seahawks had high hopes when they drafted Rashaad Penny with their first round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Sadly, the running back has struggled to stay healthy in his three seasons in the NFL.

Luckily for him, injuries to Chris Carson and Alex Collins are what gave Penny another opportunity to show what he can do. He is off and running with that chance. Two weeks ago, he rushed for a career-high 137 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 carries.

Penny has always shown a quick burst and a great ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. He just needs to stay healthy. Last week, Penny got a scare after going down on a 10-yard rush. He left the game briefly, allowing DeeJay Dallas to poach his touchdown, but he later returned.

With Chris Carson dealing yet another serious injury, this time his neck, the end of this season might be just what Penny needs to prove he is the Seahawks future in the backfield.

1. Russell Wilson bounces back with strong effort in a dominant win

Russell Wilson had quietly put together a couple nice games in a row until last week's game against the Rams. But Los Angeles typically has had his number throughout his career. So, that did not come as a surprise.

This week the Seahawks defense should create a few turnovers and win third down. That will allow Wilson plenty of time on the field to get back to cooking.

Wilson will find Tyler Lockett for a deep score at one point, and play mostly efficient football Sunday. The Seattle Seahawks will dominate the game and will win convincingly, keeping their very slim playoff hopes alive.
