The Texas A&M Aggies are solidly in the NCAA Tournament after another huge win on Saturday in the semifinals of their conference tournament. The SEC Tournament odds did not favor A&M when the week began in Tampa, but coach Buzz Williams has unlocked his team's best basketball. A&M has become a defensive menace, holding Auburn (Friday in the quarterfinals) and Arkansas (Saturday in the semifinals) to 12-of-54 shooting from 3-point range. Some of that might be chalked up to Auburn and Arkansas having bad days, but a lot of that is connected to A&M refusing to allow easy buckets and making their opponents work very hard for good shots. Auburn and Arkansas settled for the deep hoist and naturally didn't make many of them. When thinking about a Texas A&M Tennessee prediction, do realize that A&M is in a defensive groove. It's easy to think of shooters and scorers being in rhythm, but teams and athletes can acquire a defensive rhythm as well. That's what the Aggies have established in Tampa.
Tennessee hasn't won the SEC Tournament since 1979, which was the first year in which the tournament was played after a multi-decade hiatus. Lots of really good Tennessee teams have come and gone over the years, and none of them have made the Final Four. Few have won the SEC Tournament, but the Vols get a chance to end one long drought in this game. When considering a Texas A&M Tennessee pick, do realize that Tennessee did not look like an elite team midway through the season. Coach Rick Barnes went to a three-guard lineup, and that changed the trajectory of the Vols' journey.
Much like Texas A&M, Tennessee is playing elite defense right now. The Vols held Kentucky to under 35-percent shooting from the field in Saturday's win over the Wildcats. Tennessee should be a No. 2 seed for the NCAA Tournament, though it might have to win this game to lock up that seeding slot. Texas A&M will be in the NCAA Tournament. This game might determine whether the Aggies go to Dayton for the First Four or whether they go straight into the Round of 64.

Why Texas A&M Could Cover the Spread
The Aggies are on a big roll. Like Virginia Tech in the ACC Tournament, the Aggies will be playing a fourth game in four days. That reality did not hurt Tech in its win over Duke in the ACC final. A&M won't be hurt in the SEC final, either. This team is in a zone, and it will be hard for Tennessee to break the spell.
Why Tennessee Could Cover the Spread
The Vols are playing great defense, too. A&M isn't the only strong defensive team in this game. The Vols just handled Kentucky and look like the best team in the SEC.
Final Texas A&M-Tennessee Prediction & Pick
Tennessee is probably going to win outright, but A&M is playing far too well to get blown out. This game feels like a contest which will go down to the final minute. A&M covers.
Final Texas A&M-Tennessee Pick: Texas A&M +6.5
