Shane Lowry is currently facing some doubters, but he noticed how all those take-smith artists treated Rory McIlroy up until last week, realizing it doesn’t really matter what’s being side outside the golf course. It only matters what he does.
In a really interesting piece written up by Extra, Shane Lowry was talking about his recent play and the rumbling surrounding him. He eventually channeled recent happenings with Rory McIlory to highlight how little talking-points matter.
“Three weeks ago you were all saying how bad Rory is and how much of a slump he is in and now he is the favourite for the next major. That’s how fickle golf is and how fickle sport is,” said Shane Lowry.
“Really, it is whoever has the mental game and whoever chips and putts the best will probably lift the trophy. At Quail Hollow, Rory was up there in scrambling and putting and won. That’s what it’s all about at this level.”
I don’t really see any lies in what the golfer said. Gold fan be a pretty strange game. One week a guy can be playing out of his mind good, but the next he might get cut before the final round.
Nevertheless, with majors on the horizon, talents like Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy are surely hoping whatever part of fickle in their games is gone. There’s a lot on the line.
