Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons remains has been absolutely stellar for one of the NBA's best teams this season, but he still manages to receive criticism from doubters regarding his offensive production on the floor. He bared that he used to pay attention to all the outside noise, but he eventually learned to focus on playing his own brand of basketball for his team.

Via Chris Franklin of NJ.com:

“I think at times, it probably did because I was probably too focused on what other people were thinking, but I know what my value is to this team. I know I’m a huge part of this team, and if you know basketball, you see it when I’m out. It is what it is. Everyone plays their role, and I’m playing my role right now, and I’m trying to win.”

In the 2020-21 season, Simmons is currently averaging 14.8 points on 54.8% shooting from the field and 30.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Though his offensive production isn't what many would expect from the second-best player of a contending team, the Australian point forward is certainly making a huge impact on the other aspects of the game.

Due to the unique combination of size and playmaking abilities, Simmons is currently recording 7.6 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game for the Sixers. He is also one of the leading contenders for the Defensive Player of the Year award with his current tallies of 1.6 steals and 0.7 blocks per outing.

Despite the criticism on his individual performance, the 24-year-old still earned his third consecutive All-Star selection which proves that he is still recognized as one of the best players in the league this season. More importantly, he is also steering his 76ers squad to an impressive 40-21 record for the second spot in the Eastern Conference.

Though naysayers will always find a way to poke holes at Ben Simmons' game, he can definitely prove them wrong by taking his game up a notch higher in the postseason in a bid to help the Sixers successfully win a title.
