Fans in Philadelphia have long been known for their ride-or-die mentality when cheering on their sports teams. This can sometimes even mean booing players from their own teams. The Sixers are no stranger to this and got a first hand experience of it this past postseason.

While a lot of those jeers were aimed at Ben Simmons, Sixers forward Danny Green noted it effects the entire team when the crowd is booing. Keep in mind this is the same fan base that booed Santa Claus at an Eagles game.

Appearing on the Takeoff podcast with John Clark, Green was asked about the playoff booing this year and if it can effect not only Simmons, but the entire team.

“For sure. It has an effect on everybody, and I think that's something that needs to change in the city. I love our fans, but when things aren't going well, they can't turn on you. That's the one thing I would disagree with or dislike. Some guys use it as motivation, some guys have a chip on their shoulder, but I think that needs to change. They need to be riding with us, regardless of how things are going.”

Simmons struggled mightily in the Sixers playoff exiting series against the Atlanta Hawks. Thought of to be the Robin to Joel Embiid's Batman, Simmons was far from it this postseason. And as a result, the Philly crowd let him hear it early and often.

Green did note that he understands the long standing frustrations amongst Sixers fans and that they desperately want to see a title winning team.

It didn't happen for the Sixers this year and now, they figure to have a very interesting offseason with plenty of decisions to make.
