The 2022 NBA trade deadline is a little over 24 hours away, and the NBA landscape continues to change. We saw multiple big names get a change of scenery Tuesday, and there is likely still more to come. One team the basketball community has its eyes on, of course, is the Philadelphia 76ers.

Daryl Morey finds himself in the final day of pulling off a Ben Simmons trade or pushing this saga into another offseason. Rumors continue to emerge of a potential move for James Harden, but there is no telling if this mega-deal goes down before Thursday.

Whether it's a Simmons trade or not, it would be shocking if the deadline comes and goes without the Sixers making a move. Morey has never been one to sit on his hands as he is always looking for ways to improve his roster. With Joel Embiid putting on another MVP campaign and the Eastern Conference looking wide open, he is surely exploring all avenues to boost the Sixers' odds of competing.

Following the Sixers' loss to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, Doc Rivers spoke on the upcoming deadline. He also cited two areas of need for the team.

“We have no choice. We have to get another guard. We just do. We need a point guard. We're looking, but they don't grow on trees, as you know. We'll do something if it's there, but that is clearly something we are looking for. That and size,” said Rivers.

With this current roster, the Sixers cannot let the deadline pass without adding another ball handler. It has been a glaring weak point all season and could cause major issues in the postseason.

Tyrese Maxey has made significant strides as a point guard thus far, but he can't play 48 minutes a night. When he is off the floor, the offense struggles at times to get things going.

Guys like Shake Milton and Furkan Korkmaz have stepped up to help fill the void, but they are not true point guards. This roster needs an experienced guard who can run an NBA offense for 10 to 15 minutes a game when Maxey is not on the floor.

We saw Morey make a similar type of move last deadline in acquiring George Hill from the Thunder. While that experiment did not go as planned, it's the main lateral move the Sixers should be trying to make, if the Harden blockbuster doesn't come to pass.

Adding size is not as high a priority as a point guard but is still something the team can benefit from. If Morey can acquire a 3-and-D wing to defend and hit shots, he should heavily pursue it. Adding another capable perimeter defender would help fix another problem that has plagued the Sixers at times.

There is no telling what might happen before Thursday's deadline, but Rivers was spot on when it comes to areas the roster needs upgrades in.
