Joel Embiid and Doc Rivers of the Philadelphia Sixers call out the officials after a tough loss against Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets.

Seth Curry and Joel Embiid carried the load last night, scoring 29 and 32 points, respectively. However, the Sixers failed to stop Durant, who garnered 34 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists— icing the game in the fourth as the Nets won 114-105.

Rivers seemed really upset on the sideline and constantly aired his frustrations to the league officials. The main concern was the lack of fouls called every time Joel Embiid attacked the paint, yet the Sixers big man had 11 attempts from the line—which isn't enough for Doc's judgment.

“I thought Joel got fouled the last three post possessions, and-ones, and none was called,” said Rivers, whose team is now 15-15 after an 8-2 start. “I don't know how a team can play the fourth quarter of a game where we're driving the ball and posting the ball and they have zero fouls. It's hard to play a quarter in the NBA and commit no fouls. Very surprised by that.”

Embiid echoed his coach's sentiments, stressing the imbalance of fouls called last night. Still, Durant stole the show with his fantastic shotmaking ability in the clutch, as the Sixers desperately tried to stop him.

“I mean, they're the home team,” said the All-Star big man, who had team bests in points (32), rebounds (9) and assists (6). “I thought we got fouled a few times, especially down there. But, I mean, it's frustrating when they're calling fouls for the other teams down there and you don't get any. I can see what he (Rivers) was talking about.”

The Sixers fall to a 15-15 record, tied with the Washington Wizards, who also seem to be on a slump. If Philadelphia wants to secure a playoff spot this season, they might want to pick up the pace because many teams are on the hunt within the East.
