Doc Rivers’s list of accomplishments as a head coach are many, from an NBA title and two Finals appearance with the Boston Celtics, a Coach of the Year award with the Orlando Magic, and multiple 50-win seasons and playoff appearances with the Los Angeles Clippers. Enter the Sixers.

It comes as no surprise that a day after he departed as the Clippers head coach, he quickly found a team interested in acquiring his services in the Philadelphia 76ers.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the 58-year old Rivers is set to meet with representatives of the Sixers in the Philadelphia area.

Ever since his departure from Los Angeles, which he coached for seven seasons, several teams with coaching vacancies have already been rumored to to be interested in Rivers, with the Sixers among them.

Philadelphia is coming off a season with high expectations after signing center Al Horford from the Boston Celtics and signing forward Tobias Harris to a long-term extension. The offseason moves, however, did not pay off, while the team also struggled with injuries to All Stars Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. The Sixers finished sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 43-30 record and was swept out of the first round by the Celtics, which led to the dismissal of coach Brett Brown.

Doc Rivers, meanwhile, is also coming off a disappointing playoff exit with the Clippers after the team squandered a 3-1 lead to the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals. In seven seasons with Los Angeles, he compiled a 356-208 win-loss record, including a 27-32 record in the postseason. However, he also guided the Clippers to four 50-win seasons and six playoff appearances in his seven years with the team.
