It’s a good time to be a Philadelphia 76ers fan these days. The team has secured a sure spot in the upcoming playoffs, and for the first time since 2005, will finish a campaign with a winning record. And now, the Sixers have gotten back Markelle Fultz, who made his first appearance since October Monday night against the Denver Nuggets.

Fultz’s first NBA points of the year came via a driving baseline layup late in the first quarter.

The top pick of the 2017 NBA Draft waltzed into the basket unchallenged in that play. While Fultz finally making a bucket in 2018 was a welcome sight for basketball fans, at least one spectator chose to nitpick the Sixers guard for going for a layup instead of a dunk. That’s Utah Jazz rookie and reigning NBA slam dunk champion Donovan Mitchell, who razzed Fultz on Twitter.

Apparently, The Process is working with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons teaming up in vindicating ex-Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie, the much-maligned proponent of the franchise’s shameless tanking for a brighter future program.

Markelle Fultz, meanwhile, has yet to blossom into the player the Sixers envisioned him to be when they drafted him out of Washington, but at least he is showing some flashes of his potential. Provided that he is healthy, the ceiling is very high for Fultz, who finished the Nuggets game with 10 points, eight assists, and four rebounds in just 14 minutes of action to help Philly score a 123-104 win at home.

Fultz and Donovan Mitchell both belong in the same 2017 NBA Draft class, regarded as one of the best over the past few years.
