It was announced on Saturday morning that Emeka Okafor was a part of the final roster cuts ahead of the start of the regular season this upcoming week.

However, Ian Begley of ESPN is reporting that the veteran big man will get another shot getting back into the NBA while playing for the Sixers' G-League affiliate.

The 35-year-old has joined the 76ers nearly a month ago where he participated in limited action in the preseason where he averaged 2.6 points on 60 percent shooting from the field with 2.8 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 8.2 minutes per contest while playing each of the five games. This includes recording two points, four rebounds, and three blocks in 10 minutes played in the preseason finale against the Miami Heat.

Okafor last played in the NBA during the 2012-13 season with the Washington Wizards where he was forced to miss the next year due to a herniated disc in his neck. Despite being able to recover fully from the injury, he did not draw any interest from across the league that didn't help case as he continued to deal with lingering issues from the injury.

Now that he has shown that he can still be an effective player on the court even in limited action, this opportunity with the 76ers' G-League affiliate team could be his final chance to fulfill his NBA comeback aspirations.
