Criticism over Ben Simmons' lack of a reliable jump shot has been mounting. But for Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand, Simmons' jump shot is still a work in progress and is confident that he'll be fine. Defenders have been sagging off of Simmons, which, according to analysts, messes up the Sixers' spacing. For Brand, this doesn't seem to be the main concern as they intend to put Simmons and Joel Embiid on spots where the ‘team can be successful.'
He noted that sooner or later, Simmons will gain that confidence to shoot more from the perimeter.
The Sixers picked up a big win against the Milwaukee Bucks on Christmas, 121-109. Simmons had a big night with 15 points, seven rebounds, and 14 assists. He was 7-of-10 from. He also had two blocks and three steals.
More than extending their winning streak to three games, their win over the Bucks reiterates that Sixers are one legitimate title contenders in the league. The Bucks, who won 60 games last season, seems to be on a higher gear this year — intent on winning that elusive Larry O'Brien trophy.
As such, the Sixers let the Mike Budenholzer-squad know on Christmas that there's no chance in hell that they'll cruise to 60 wins again. The Sixers let the Bucks and the entire league know that they have all the potential to win it all this season.
