Josh Richardson excited to play on ‘the same side’ as Sixers fans
Having spent the entirety of his career on the opposite side, receiving jeers and boos, the former Miami Heat swingman can’t help but be ecstatic to be on the “same side” as the passionate supporters of Philly.
“The fans, man,” Richardson said, per Marc Narducci of The Philadelphia Inquirer. “The first thing you think about is how hard the fans are to opposing players. It is tough playing against that and I am excited to play on the same side of those fans.”
The Sixers lost some key pieces in Jimmy Butler and J.J. Redick this offseason. Fortunately for them, they made some pretty good additions in Richardson and veteran All-Star big man Al Horford.
Richardson will be the Sixers’ primary perimeter defender. He has established himself as one of the best defenders in the league and usually takes on the best player of the opposing squad.
Richardson is no slack on offense either. He has improved his scoring output in each of his four seasons in Miami. With the abundance of firepower in Philadelphia, however, Richardson will likely not have the same offensive load with the Sixers as he did with the Heat.
