The Philadelphia 76ers are signing Senegal-born center Christ Koumadje to a partially guaranteed one-year contract, per The Athletic's Mike Scotto.
After entering the 2019 draft class and finding no suitors, Koumadje was invited to participate on the Summer League team. In five games at the NBA's Summer League in Las Vegas, Koumadje averaged 6.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks a contest, shooting 63.2 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from the free throw line.
Koumadje, 23, spent four collegiate seasons at Florida State University playing for Leonard Hamilton's Seminoles.
Should Koumadje make it to the Sixers' 15-man roster and find playing time, he'd be reunited with former Montverde Academy teammate and 2018 Rookie of the Year Ben Simmons. Both international products rose through the college ball ranks to garner professional interest from Philly.
The Sixers' roster over recent years has been a melting pot of overseas talent. Besides Simmon, there's All-Star center Joel Embiid from Cameroon, second-year power forward Jonah Bolden from Australia, 2019 second-round pick Marial Shayok from Canada and undrafted big man Norvel Pelle from Antigua and Barbuda.
It's unclear whether the partially guaranteed Koumadje will make the team's roster by October, though he could also find playing time with the G League Delaware Blue Coats.
