Markelle Fultz's complete regression as a shooter is one of the most intriguing storylines in recent NBA history. He was the consensus first overall pick heading into the 2017 draft and the Philadelphia Sixers traded up just to get him. But now Fultz is looking like a monumental bust.

Fultz spent much of last season and the beginning of this season working with shooting coach Drew Hanlen on fixing his shot. But now it appears that Fultz and Hanlen are done working together. Liberty Ballers writes:

“The relationship between Markelle Fultz & Drew Hanlen deteriorated when a member of Fultz’ camp colorfully confronted Hanlen in person about a lack of expected results, sources familiar with the situation have told Liberty Ballers. Hanlen declined to comment on the situation.”

This is an interesting development in the Fultz saga and it may explain what happened on Monday night. Losing Hanlen has clearly affected Fultz's shot.

That double clutch is brutal to watch. He looks like a player that has lost all confidence in his shot. It's painful to watch because he entered the league with so much potential.

This is bad timing for the Sixers. The team just made a big splash by trading for Jimmy Butler and now they need outside shooting to help fill out their rotation. Unfortunately, Fultz's shot looks like it's regressing once again.

It doesn't sound like a reunion between Fultz and Hanlen is likely, but it's clear that Fultz needs to do something to fix his shot.
