Contrary to a prior report, the Philadelphia Sixers are reportedly not interested in acquiring New York Knicks shooting guard Courtney Lee, according to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Lee was recently rumored to want out of The Big Apple after the Knicks could potentially have another year of development without star Kristaps Porzingis for a portion or even the entire season, known to be focused in next year's free agency period and the growth of their young players.

The veteran shut down the rumors of requesting a trade to a contender via Twitter, noting that he hadn't spoken to the media since the end of last season.

The Sixers are currently loaded with guards, as point guard Ben Simmons and shooting guard J.J. Redick are set to start in the backcourt, while others like Markelle Fultz, Jerryd Bayless, T.J. McConnell, Landry Shamet, and the recently-injured Zhaire Smith will be vying for playing time.

Philadelphia will also have a couple of young guards as two-way prospects in Shake Milton and Demetrius Jackson, leaving no need for the 6-foot-5 Lee.

Lee is unlikely to play an important role with the Knicks, considering that the franchise would rather give minutes to young players, but the installment of David Fizdale as the head coach might see a need in a veteran like Lee to help set the culture, even if that isn't something Lee wants.
