He had to wait an awful long time during draft night, but Isaiah Joe eventually got his name called. The Philadelphia 76ers took a chance on the 6-foot-5 guard with their 49th overall pick, and as Joe was doing an interview after being selected, Sixers head coach Doc Rivers hilariously crashed in on the conversation.

Joe seemed to panic a bit when he received a call from his new head coach while he was on another video interview:

Obviously, Joe had no other choice but to take Rivers' call. It was a courtesy call from the Sixers coach, as he officially welcomed the new recruit to the squad. Joe seemed surprised and genuinely delighted to have received the call from Rivers, and the smile plastered on his face throughout the conversation says it all.

According to reports, the Sixers were already eyeing Joe at least a week before draft night. They already had a sit-down with him, so the selection was a formality of sorts. Nonetheless, Joe couldn't be completely sure until his name was actually called, and he surely let out a sigh of relief once this finally happened.

Joe spent two seasons with Arkansas, averaging 15.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.5 steals, while also connecting on 3.5 triples per contest on a 37.8-percent clip. He's one of the better three-point shooters late in the draft, so it was a good pick for Philly. It remains to be seen what role he's going to be given once the season starts. A lot will likely depend on what he does in the preseason.
