Well, it looks like there would not be a fun Instagram post coming up any time soon from Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid.
Embiid looked crestfallen as he walked off the floor and straight into the locker room after the final buzzer of Game 5 of their Eastern Conference semifinals series with the Boston Celtics sounded, which also signaled the end of the road for the Sixers.
Here’s a video of Embiid dejectedly leaving the TD Garden court.

Embiid scored 27 points in Game 5, going 9-for-18 from the floor with 12 rebounds, four assists, and four blocks in 39 minutes. As what his stat line suggests, he played great, albeit in a loss.
What his numbers would not show was his missed opportunity late in the game to tie the game when he botched a shot at the rim while being defended by Boston biggie Aron Baynes. Embiid would turn the ball over after recovering his miss, giving the possession back to Boston, with the Celtics ahead by two points and only 10.8 seconds remaining on the game clock.
Also, according to ESPN, Embiid finished the season with a 0-for-8 field shooting line on game-tying or go-ahead attempts in the last minute.
Joel Embiid went 0-8 on game-tying or go-ahead shots in the final minute this season, including going 0-2 in Game 5
His 8 such attempts are tied for the most by any player without a made FG under those circumstances.

Despite the bad ending to the Sixers’ season, Joel Embiid and company have plenty of reasons to feel optimistic of their future. With Embiid and Ben Simmons running the show in Philly for the foreseeable future, it’s fair to say that they would have several more opportunities to make noise in the playoffs.
