The Chicago Sky lost a close game against the Indiana Fever on Saturday, almost completing a fourth-quarter comeback in the 71-70 defeat. WNBA fans were treated to a tight game that featured three of the top seven picks in the 2024 WNBA Draft — Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and Camilla Cardoso. However, the drama between Chennedy Carter and Caitlin Clark took center stage following the game and Sky players were feeling heated.

As a result, Angel Reese decided not to speak with the media following the defeat. The WNBA decided to crack down on this behavior by levying a fine on the Chicago Sky and Angel Reese herself.

According to Bulls beat writer Julia Poe, Angel Reese has been fined $1,000 for failing to comply with media requests after last night’s game. Poe also reports that the Sky have also been fined $5,000 for failing to ensure player compliance with media protocol.

Saturday's game was the first time Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have faced each other in the WNBA. Reese spoke candidly about Clark before the game.

“I think all of the rookies have done a great job, being able to elevate and go to the next level, allow us to translate,” Reese said, per ESPN. “I think we have all done a great job, especially me and Caitlin.”

Reese must be thrilled to see fellow rookie Camilla Cardoso play well in her WNBA debut, scoring 11 points off the bench. The two will be a huge part of the Sky's future plans.

“First game back and she played pretty well, too,” Carter said on Cardoso's first WNBA game. “She hasn't been in this position, closing the game, so let's give her some time.”

The WNBA wasn't done with the Sky just yet. Chloe Peterson confirms that the W has upgraded Chennedy Carter’s foul on Caitlin Clark at the end of the third quarter from an away from ball foul to a flagrant 1 after league review.

Carter will not be fined, but receiving a flagrant foul escalates her up the WNBA's flagrant foul points scale. According to the league, a player will be automatically suspended for one game if they commit a flagrant 1 foul while they have four or five points on the scale.

The foul in question occurred towards the end of the third quarter. Clark and Carter had been exchanging words and physical play throughout the late third quarter leading up to the foul. Clark was waiting to receive an inbound pass when Carter approached her, appeared to be addressing her, and shoulder checked her to the ground.

Carter elected to not answer questions about the incident after the game.

“I ain’t answering no Caitlin Clark questions,” Carter said, via Dylan Svoboda of the New York Post. “I don’t know what she said, I didn’t say anything.”

Clark brushed off the incident but made sure to add that she thought the foul was not warranted.

“Yeah, that’s just not a basketball play,” Clark said. “But you know I’ve gotta play through it, that’s what basketball is about at this level. I thought we’ve been really physical, we’ve missed some bunnies around the rim, so hopefully those fall in the fourth.”

Chicago will have to wait for June 16th for another shot at the Indiana Fever.
