The Chicago Sky are starting a new era during the 2024 WNBA season. Chicago drafted highly touted rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso in the first round of the summer draft. The two stars along with the rest of the Sky roster look to make an appearance in the NBA 2K25 video game. The 2K24 iteration has not updated its roster to reflect the new changes, so using the 2023 Draft class to predict Chicago's rookie ratings for the Fall release of 2K25 is key.

Sky rookies look to start NBA 2K25 with earnest ratings

Kamilla Cardoso was the third overall pick in the 2024 Draft, while Angel Reese was the seventh. There are two 2023 WNBA lottery picks residing on NBA 2K24's roster whose ratings could closely resemble the two Sky rookies'.

Aliyah Boston, the Indiana Fever's 2023 first-overall pick, is rated an 88 overall. Kamilla Cardoso stands two inches taller than the 6'5″ Boston but possesses a similar skillset (although not quite as adept at three-point shooting). Admittedly, Cardoso might not start the first season of NBA 2K25 at an 88. However, it is safe to say the star center should earn an overall in the mid-80s.

The major attribute contributing to Boston's 88 overall is her outside scoring and rebounding. Most notably, Boston's “Close Shot” is rated a 95, and her “Mid-Range Shot” comes in at 85. Her overall rebounding attribute is rated an 86. Cardoso should have no problems matching Boston's interior attributes. Cardoso's mid-range attribute will take her down a few points, so a safe estimate would be an 83 overall for Cardoso's rookie rating in 2K25.

Meanwhile, Angel Reese's prime comparison is Dallas Wings forward Maddy Seigrist. At 6'1″, Seigrist is two inches shorter than Reese but achieved college production that rivaled and slightly proceeded Reese's. Seigrist started NBA 2K24 as a 77 overall and progressed to a 78.

Seigrist's primary advantage over Reese is her three-point shooting. She shot 34.7 percent throughout her career with Villanova, while Reese shot 15.6 percent in her time with Maryland and LSU. Seigrist amassed an 80 “Three-Point Shot” in 2K24, a significant contributing factor to her overall.

Reese's long-range game is not as developed. Thus, her attributes will be lacking in that department. Yet, the rookie forward's inside scoring, rebounding, and interior defensive abilities should rival if not exceed Seigrist's. Therefore, it is reasonable to predict Reese's NBA 2K25 rating being in the high 70s or low 80s.

Angel Reese has had a promising start to her WNBA career. Through four games, the 6'3″ forward is averaging 12.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.0 steals. In addition, she is shooting 63.3 percent at the free throw line. As Reese gets more comfortable, her impact will only increase.

Meanwhile, Kamilla Cardoso has yet to make her professional debut. The 6'7″ center suffered a shoulder injury during Chicago's first preseason game against the Minnesota Lynx that is holding her out. Cardoso amassed six points and four boards in 13 minutes of action. Once she returns, she will significantly boost Chicago's interior attack.

As the 2024 WNBA season continues, Chicago wants to keep claiming the Eastern Conference standings. If Chicago's rookies and personnel perform well, they will earn an earnest rating for NBA 2K25.
