Set in Modern-day Tokyo and switching between it and “Other Tokyo”, Shin Megami Tensei V is the latest in the critically-acclaimed Shin Megami Tensei franchise by Atlus. The goals of god and human clash, and as someone that is neither human and a god, you alone will decide what to do with the world. After a long wait, Shin Megami Tensei V finally received a release date through a trailer during Nintendo Direct at E3 2021.

Shin Megami Tensei V (SMT V) Release Date: November 12, 2021

Shin Megami Tensei V comes out simultaneously in Japan and the West on November 12, 2021, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Developer Atlus describes it as a hybrid between Shin Megami Tensei II: Nocturne and SMT IV. It will feature mechanics that fans of the series will be familiar with. Befriend and fuse demons to create the ideal demon team, which you'll use to bend the will of others around you.

After the Nintendo Direct E3 2021 presentation, Nintendo Treehouse also presented the gameplay of the SMT V. What we see is what we've been expecting all along – and that's a good thing. Don't fix what is not broken, as they say, and SMT V sticks to the core gameplay loop of previous games in the series. It also retains the foreboding, dark, and ominous mood of its predecessors, again dealing with existential topics, and dealing with gods and demons as if they're just some kind of normal creatures.

You can now pre-order the game for the Nintendo Switch. However, Western audiences are getting a slightly shorter stick compared to Japanese players, who have access to a Limited Edition version of the game. The Limited Edition comes with a Steelbook, an art book, a soundtrack disc, as well as a t-shirt.
