England forward Ellen White set the country's all time goal scoring record with her 47th goal as a Lioness. That was part of the 20-0 rout in a World Cup qualifying match between England and Latvia Tuesday.

White passed former Lioness great Kelly Smith, who held the record previously with 46 career goals. White entered the game sitting on 45 goals, but got right to work. Less than 10 minutes into the match, she had tallied two goals and set the mark.

The 20 goals scored by England are the most in the country's history in any competitive match. The previous record was 13 goals. It was also the most lopsided victory in Lioness history. Sadly, Latvia was forced to endure one of the worst beatings in World Cup qualifying history, including what must have been three brutal minutes of extra time.

White plays for Manchester City in the English Premier League who currently place 7th in the table.

During the 2019 Women's World Cup, England made it all the way to the semi final match. They were ousted by eventual champion United States, 2-1. They then lost the 3rd place game to Sweden, 2-1, also.

That marked their second consecutive appearance in the semi finals. In 2015, they placed 3rd, earning the Bronze Medal.

They hope to improve in the 2023 Women's World Cup. After Tuesday's throttling of Latvia, England is now a perfect 6-0 during qualification. They are atop Group D with 18 points and a +53 goal differential. They obviously will qualify. But will they reach the final for the first time in the country's history?
