Sony Interactive Entertainment has recently revealed that they have big plans for the future of their Playstation brand and ecosystem, as they are looking to expand their Playstation PC offerings in the near future, as discussions from the president of Sony Playstation Jim Ryan have stated in a business briefing on May 26th, 2022 that they are expanding to make more PlayStation branded games available on other platforms.

According to an article listed by VGC, their reason for the expansion into the PC market is due to the company's restrictions on itself to a “narrow portion of the gaming market”, according to Ryan. Also: PC gaming is not the only market they have their eyes set on, as they also plan to expand into the mobile game market even further and create more live service titles.

“By expanding to PC and mobile, and it must be said… also to live services, we have the opportunity to move from a situation of being present in a very narrow segment of the overall gaming software market, to being present pretty much everywhere. I think if we do this right, if we execute with intelligence and we execute with excellence, the opportunities for significant growth in the number of people who play our games, the number of people who enjoy our games, and the number of people who spend money on our games, is exponentially a large one.” -Jim Ryan

Lastly, the company has plans to phase out new game releases for the Playstation 4 system by 2025, with no further details given.

As for current Playstation PC offerings, Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone and God of War have all received PC ports, with the Uncharted series also releasing to PC this year.

Porting more Playstation 4 titles to the PC and creating more mobile games is one thing, but the focus on live services could be seen as questionable, as more and more companies are attempting the live service model, there will be limited to the amount of time and money people will be able to invest into them.  It's a risky move that may not pay off in the long run, but time will certainly tell.
