Zach Edey’s injury news is a bummer. He’s been great. Ja Morant is returning soon tho. Grizzlies have won 7/10 without him. Playing with pace + ball movement. If he screws it all up, and they go back to playing slow and stagnant, it'll be obvious they need to explore Ja trades. Memphis has a clearly bright future with lotto picks like Edey and Coward, and second rounders like Wells and Spencer, plus the haul of first round picks for Bane. But the Bane trade also shows the Grizzlies aren't afraid to move on from the old core to build for the future. It’d be nice to see this whole group together but I start saying they need to blow it up—Ja and JJJ are both only just turned 26, so it could work with everyone. But that’s exactly why, with or without Edey for this next month or so, the pressure is on Ja to start fitting in. The system and supporting pieces seem ideal if he just adapts a little bit by making quicker decisions offensively and putting in greater effort on defense. The road map is so clear considering how well the Grizzlies play without him. So we’re all about to find out if Ja can evolve, otherwise it’ll be quite clear what needs to happen in Memphis.

Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey will be re-evaluated in four weeks with a stress reaction in his left ankle. "This is a management plan to optimize Zach's long-term health in consultation with the Grizzlies and medical experts," Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN.
