The Tokyo Olympics are set to take place next year due to the ongoing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though he's been invited to play for Team USA next summer, San Antonio Spurs star DeMar DeRozan revealed his true thoughts on playing in the Olympics again.

For the time being, there are 44 players who have been chosen as finalists to make the final roster for Team USA. While DeRozan is one of them, the veteran forward is focused on helping the Spurs put together a successful season.

DeRozan isn't a stranger to the Olympics as he's won gold with the United States in the 2014 FIBA World Cup and the 2016 Olympics. Altogether, the USA has won three consecutive gold medals at the Olympics, but they finished in seventh place in the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

Team USA has already clinched a spot in the Tokyo Olympics for 2021, finishing as one of the top two teams in the tournament. There is supposed to be a six-team qualifying tournament for the remaining four spots in the Olympics this summer. However, that could be subject to change due to the COVID-19 pandemic still going on.

As of this moment, the Spurs hold a 14-10 record, earning them the fifth seed in the Western Conference. After missing the playoffs last season, San Antonio is focused on returning to the postseason in the 2020-2021 season.

It seems as if DeRozan will make his decision on whether or not he'll return to Team USA sometime in the offseason. But until that time comes, DeRozan wants to do everything he can to make sure the Spurs clinch a playoff spot this season.
