San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich is indeed a man of few words. But when it comes to dealing with social issues, the 5-time NBA champion tactician is arguably one of the most eloquent figures in all of professional sports.

Pop took some time off the Spurs' preparations against the Sacramento Kings on Friday to discuss the magnitude of the NBA's impact in influencing change worldwide.

Given the current state of the country due to the pandemic and racial injustice, the 71-year-old legendary coach had this to say, per Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News:

Gregg Popovich certainly does not like mincing words, and his curt yet truthful opinion about the matter is indeed eye-opening. The Black Lives Matter movement is bigger than basketball, yet Pop acknowledges that sports could actually help in spreading awareness.

The NBA, meanwhile, has continued to use its platform to promote change while holding its games inside the ESPN World Wide Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. The BLM movement continues to move forward, especially with league pillars like Popovich continuing to use their voice.

The Spurs, meanwhile, are in unfamiliar territory and in danger of missing the postseason this year. With LaMarcus Aldridge out, coach Pop must somehow will his team to string consecutive victories in the final eight regular-season games.

Entering Friday's match versus the Kings, the Spurs hold the 13th spot in the West with a 27-26 record. They are not out of the running just yet. But it looks like San Antonio might need some sort of a miracle to clinch that eighth and final playoff ticket.
