San Antonio Spurs big man LaMarcus Aldridge will play against the Sacramento Kings on Friday after missing the previous two games.

The Spurs lost to the Detroit Pistons and defeated the Houston Rockets sans Aldridge.

The Spurs are 8-14 on the season. Aldridge played 31 minutes against the Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 29 and finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. That’s the last game LaMarcus played.

On the season, Aldridge is averaging 18.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. The seven-time All-Star is shooting 51.7 percent from the field, 35.5 percent from beyond the arc and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line.

San Antonio needs to turn things around sooner rather than later if it wants to reach the playoffs for the 23rd straight season. It would be very strange not to see Gregg Popovich and the Spurs in the playoffs.

Right now, San Antonio is in the 12th spot in the Western Conference standings.

As was the case last season, the Spurs will ultimately go as far as DeMar DeRozan and Aldridge can take them. The two All-Stars are still figuring out how to play with each other and lead this group in a rugged Western Conference.

There has been talk that the Spurs could trade DeRozan or Aldridge if the losing continues in San Antonio.
