Coming into the 2023-24 season, San Antonio Spurs rookie forward Victor Wembanyama was the talk of the NBA. He was the overwhelming favorite to win the NBA's Rookie of the Year Award even before the season started. While Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren has entered his name in the race, Wembanyama still has a very strong case despite the two teams opposite records. His defensive ability is already setting historic records and his overall game is also setting league records as well.

During the Spurs game against the Cavs on Sunday, Victor Wembanyama reached the 100 career blocked shots mark becoming only the sixth player in the NBA history to reach that mark during his first 35 career games. He also reached his 10th game of at least 20 points and four blocked shots which leads the NBA this season. Joel Embiid is behind him in that regard with seven.

While the Spurs have not been a very good team this season, they've become must-see TV because you never know what kind of insane feat Wembanyama is going to pull off. He's an athletic freak, and combined with his basketball skill and talent, that makes for a very entertaining player.

Through 30 games, Wembanyama has been averaging 19.2 points per game, 10.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.2 steals and a league-leading 3.2 blocked shots with splits of 44.9 percent shooting from the field, 29.1 percent shooting from the three point line and 78.6 percent shooting from the free throw line.

The Spurs are currently 5-30 and in last place in the Western Conference standings. They're 1-9 in their last ten games and have lost five in a row.
