Earlier this week, San Antonio Spurs big man Pau Gasol became the all-time leading scorer in EuroBasket history.

It marks the latest feat in what's been an illustrious professional basketball career both in the NBA and internationally the Spanish big man. With that in mind, Turkish head coach Ufuk Sarica voiced some major praise toward Gasol following Turkey's EuroBasket elimination at the hands of Spain, according to Eurohoops.net.

“First and foremost I want to express my respect for the Spanish Team. Especially Pau Gasol. He’s 37 years old and he goes through an intense summer camp. And after a very long season, he fights with the whole until the very end. You see the whole team is together with him in this effort. I think he sets a good example for future generations that want to play basketball. I’d like to point out that. That I really respect Pau Gasol and the Spanish team in particular,” Sarica said.

Despite nearing the twilight of his career, Pau Gasol remains a highly productive player both for the Spurs and the Spanish National Team. He has remained one of the primary contributors for his country, putting them squarely in the mix to win the EuroBasket tournament.

The 37-year-old has contributed a lot to Spain earning the gold medal three times, silver twice, and bronze once. In the process, he helped make his country a powerhouse in international competition for nearly the last decade.

Once Gasol decides to retire from professional basketball, he will earn much recognition for his years of service for his country and could potentially be elected in the basketball Hall of Fame.
