The NBA's trade deadline is upon us, and teams will be looking to make moves before Thursday to either improve their roster in preparation for the postseason, gather draft picks for their future, and to simply unload bad contracts. One of the teams who is looking to free up some cap room is the San Antonio Spurs, who are looking for any team that will be willing to take veteran forward Pau Gasol in a trade, according to SportingNews.com's Mitch Lawrence.

The Spurs are working hard to part ways with Pau Gasol, according to one Eastern Conference GM.

Gasol has been on a constant decline over the past few years. This season, the Spaniard is only averaging 4.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 13 minutes per game. One significant factor for his underwhelming performance is the constant injuries. This season, Gasol has missed 26 games due to left foot soreness.

Although a playoff team can greatly benefit from Gasol's presence, his large contract will make it difficult for the Spurs to find a trade partner that will be willing to take him. The 17-year veteran is set to make $16 million in each of the next two seasons.

As of the moment, there has been no speculation of any team wanting to trade with the Spurs, but that can change between now and Thursday. In order for the Spurs to move Gasol, they will likely need to include some young talent and draft picks to make a deal more appealing to the rest of the league.
