Even though some of his players seem more than open to the idea, Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin isn't interested in conjecture involving James Harrison.

For those missing some context, the Steelers released James Harrison last week, with the veteran talent now clearing waivers, leaving the door open for him to return to Pittsburgh.

The idea of him returning is something a few players seem giddy about.

“We adjusted really well,” center Maurkice Pouncey said, by way of TribLive. “Deebo was the guy helping us out along the way. When you lose that type of player, honestly, it (stinks). What he meant to us and how cool he was to be around and all that stuff. But it's the NFL, and we see tough decisions every day.”

When the offensive lineman was directly asked about if Harrison could return:

“I think so,” he said. “Why not?”

As for Mike Tomlin, he's not here for this conversation.

“I'm not speculating, guys,” Tomlin said when asked about Harrison's future.” It's just life in football. Sometimes you've got to make tough decisions.”

James Harrison wasn't getting a lot of work while with Pittsburgh. If he were to be brought back — or even just asked to be brought back — it might not go over so well, as he's on record saying he was not being thrilled with his role on the team.

Then again, unless he wants to retire, if there are no other options, maybe a rekindling of Harrison's relationship with the Steelers is in order.
