Former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores was hired by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday amid his saga with the NFL. It came as a surprise to many, but Flores will now step in as the senior defensive assistant/linebackers coach.

Mike Tomlin spoke out on the hiring and revealed how excited he is to work with Flores. Via Steelers.com:

“I am excited about Brian Flores joining our coaching staff given his history of developing and teaching defensive players during his time in the NFL. Brian's resume speaks for itself, and I look forward to him adding his expertise to help our team.”

Flores was essentially canned by the Dolphins for no apparent reason and then proceeded to hand them and several other teams lawsuits for their mistreatment in the hiring of black coaches. Flores also claimed Miami owner Stephen Ross offered him $100,000 per loss in 2019 in order to tank and get the highest-possible pick in the 2020 draft.

Honestly, after this whole lawsuit situation with the league, no one expected Flores to be hired by another team. But the Steelers have done the exact opposite, which is extremely refreshing. This situation has been compared to Colin Kaepernick's stance against police brutality in America and as we know, he's yet to play in the NFL since taking a knee during the national anthem.

Flores voiced that he knew his coaching career could very well be over after attacking the league. While he might never be a HC again, at least his expertise can help the Steelers defense next season.
