The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Wednesday morning that they have signed fourth-round pick Benny Snell to a four-year contract. The exact terms of the contract aren't currently available.

Snell was a star running back with the Kentucky Wildcats, playing 39 games during his career. He broke or tied 14 school records and will go down as one of the best running backs in Wildcats history.

Steelers running back coach Eddie Faulkner is excited about getting a chance to work with someone who has such a passion for the game.

“I'm really excited about Benny,” said running backs coach Eddie Faulkner via the Steelers team website. “Very evident when you sit down with this young man how much passion he has for the game, how much he loves it, how he loves being around it. We were very interested in finding someone who had a passion and just loves football, and that's Benny Snell. As soon as you turn on his tape, and watch how he plays the game, he mirrors that same amount of passion. He plays physical, plays hard, and quite honestly represents the Steelers brand, as you watch him play as a football player.”

Snell is a hard-nosed football player and thinks that his style will fit perfectly with what the team is trying to get done. Snell is expected to start third on the depth chart to open training camp behind James Conner and Jaylen Samuels.

Even being third on the depth chart, Snell should get his chances as a rookie to get on the field.
