When the Golden State Warriors had their victory parade on Thursday, it was capped off by a program where their front office executives, coaches and some players gave speeches to thank the fans for their support and also talk about what made them successful this season. Head coach Steve Kerr had his moment on stage with the microphone with him and did just that, however, he forgot to acknowledge one of his players, who played a huge role for them throughout the year.

After returning to his seat, he was reminded by his wife that he failed to mention Stephen Curry and what he has done for the team. At first he did not believe her as he knows he did, but when realized he indeed forgot do so, he admitted, via Marcus Thompson II of The Mercury News, that he felt he was an idiot because of it.

“Oh my God. I’m such an idiot. I blew it. I completely spaced.”

He then added that he approached the reigning back-to-back MVP and apologized to him, even joking that he wasn’t important to them.

“Steph, I’m so embarrassed. I forgot to talk about you. You’re not that important to the team anyway.”

It was an honest mistake on his part and Curry knew it. They both quickly brushed it off by moving on with the program and continued with the festivities.

The 29-year-old Davidson product may not have had a season as good as the past two years, but he is still one of the team’s go-to-guys, and produced elite numbers of 22.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game. He was also able to increase his production and contributed to the Warriors’ dominance in the postseason.

There may be some who will magnify Kerr’s omission of him in his speech, but what’s important is the two know it wasn’t done intentionally. He and Curry have been working well together, which has translated to a lot of success in the past three seasons, and they will definitely look to have more title runs in the future and continue having a good relationship.
