It was an odd Friday night for the Golden State Warriors (4-2), as the Luke Walton-coached Los Angeles Lakers (3-3) came away with a 117-97 win.

The Warriors had also dropped a game in Los Angeles last season, losing to the Lakers by 17 points and making that only their sixth loss of their 2015-16 campaign and sporting a 55-6 record.

When asked about the result, head coach Steve Kerr was his usual sarcastic self.

“It was our annual breakdown at Staples,” Kerr told Ben Golliver of Sports Illustrated.

While the Warriors have a knack for losing to teams they generally have no business losing to (such as a rebuilding Lakers team) — the sheer anomaly of having the Splash Brothers go 2-of-20 from beyond the arc is mind-boggling.

Kerr tends to resort to sarcasm when there's something he's uncomfortable with, which goes to show that he and his team have a lot of work ahead of themselves before rejoining the west's elite.
