The Phoenix Suns have the best record in the league, and their players are well aware. In fact, point guard Cameron Payne joined a Lakers fan chat to let them know it.

Payne was invited to join Twitter Spaces chat LateNightLakeShow early Thursday morning, and he happily accepted.

One user shared a recording of the chat on Twitter.

“You accepted the speaker request,” the host said.

“You're damn right I did. We're the number one team in the world and you're worried about the [expletive] Lakers. They the worst team in the west,” Payne said, with immediate laughs from the chat.

Payne's comment was half wrong, half right, and fully hilarious. The Suns are the best team in the NBA right now with a record of 44-10. The Lakers don't have the worst record in the west, but they are trending in that direction. Los Angeles is ninth in the conference and lost six of their last eight games.

When asked if he cared whether or not LeBron James or anyone else heard his comments, Payne said “That's fine…We respect the Lakers. We respect every team in the NBA.”

This isn't the first time this season that Payne trash talked the Lakers. During the Suns vs Lakers game on October 22, Payne talked too much for James' liking. He told the point guard to “stay humble” in the Suns' victory over the Lakers.

The Suns have beaten the Lakers in all four of their matchups this season. Will they keep the streak going the next time they meet on March 13?
