The Phoenix Suns have been one of the worst teams in the NBA this season, which is not all that surprising. Rookie big man Deandre Ayton was asked about the Suns' struggles this year and said that it is merely hard to win in this league:

“It's very hard to win in this league,” said Ayton, according to Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype. “Me, as a kid, I probably would've been saying the same thing [as some fans] like, ‘Yo, the Suns suck!' But actually being in the league and experiencing everything, it's hard to win.”

Ayton was chosen by Phoenix with the first overall pick of the NBA Draft this past summer.

Due to how terrific Dallas Mavericks rookie Luka Doncic has been, Ayton's rookie campaign has flown under the radar, but he has been terrific, averaging 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and two assists over 31 minutes per game while shooting 58.7 percent from the floor and 76.1 percent from the free-throw line.

The Suns actually have an impressive stable of young talent, with names like Devin Booker, T.J. Warren and Josh Jackson combining forces with Ayton to give Phoenix a lot to look forward to in the future.

Plus, there seems to be a very good chance that the Suns end up with the No. 1 overall selection in this year's NBA Draft, so they may very well add someone like Zion Williamson to what is already an impressive group of young pieces.

The Suns are currently 11-49 and have lost 16 games in a row.
