Phoenix Suns big man Deandre Ayton is giving $100,000 toward the relief efforts in the Bahamas.

The Bahamas was tragically hit by Hurricane Dorian. Ayton was born in the Bahamas. He and Sacramento Kings shooting guard Buddy Hield are both giving back to their native country.

Thankfully, Deandre Ayton's family and friends are okay in the Bahamas. The real work starts now, though. The relief efforts are going to be huge, as the hurricane did a lot of damage.

The 2019-20 NBA season kicks off next month. Ayton and the Suns will try and improve from their 2018-19 campaign when they won just 19 games. Right now though, Ayton's main focus is trying to help the Bahamas get back on track.

Ayton is also asking Suns fans to donate items and help in any way they can so the relief efforts can be fast.

In his first season in the NBA, Ayton averaged 16.3 points and 10.3 rebounds in 71 games while shooting 58.5 percent from the field.

People sometimes forget he was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 Draft. Ayton was overshadowed by Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic and Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young last season despite averaging a double-double. That was mostly because the Suns were just so putrid.
