Phoenix Suns All-Star shooting guard Devin Booker is doing his part to raise money for food bank contributions. The 23-year-old professional athlete and frequent gamer partnered with live stream service Twitch and Phoenix Suns Charities to raise awareness the non-profit charity Arizona Food Bank Network, per ESPN's Marc J. Spears, along with donating $100,000 himself.

The Suns released a statement about their star guard Booker planning to raise money for the food bank via the live streaming giant.

Given the unprecedented and constantly-evolving situation surrounding the effects of COVID-19 on our community and beyond, Devin Booker, in partnership with Phoenix Suns Charities, will raise money through livestreaming on Twitch to support non-profits that best serve the needs of the most vulnerable in the community. An avid gamer and NBA All-Star, Booker pledged $100,000 to tip off the giving campaign on Twitch and Phoenix Suns Charities will match that initial donation. Funds will benefit non-profits like the Arizona Food Bank Network, which is providing hunger-relief for children, families and seniors, the Foundation for Senior Living, which provides affordable housing, meals and caregiver support to seniors, and Banner Health Foundation to support community testing, including potential new approaches such as drive-through clinics

Booker made a viral moment last week when, while live streaming on Twitch, he found out the then-breaking news that the NBA had suspended league operations effectively immediately on March 12 due to the coronavirus outbreak. Utah Jazz star center Rudy Gobert had tested positive for the virus and teammate Donovan Mitchell soon followed, along with other players including Detroit Pistons power forward Christian Wood, and four members of the Brooklyn Nets, and All-Star forward Kevin Durant.

Booker's patronage for the food bank is crucial as underprivileged individuals have trouble obtaining nutrition while the country self-quarantines and prevents further spread of coronavirus.
