Phoenix Suns forward Kelly Oubre Jr. is in the midst of a legal battle involving his ex-girlfriend for custody of his dogs. This is no laughing matter, with the 23-year-old's former beau apparently holding his two dogs hostage.

TMZ Sports provides us with the details of this rather peculiar case involving the 6-foot-7 small forward and his estranged lover.

In the lawsuit, Oubre claims she's refused to leave his Bev Hills spot, slashed the tires on his car, stolen some of his stuff … and worst of all, taken his two beloved dogs.

Oubre says he got the pups — Saint and Soul– before he met Makena … and claims she is now “holding them hostage” in an effort to try to get money from the NBA player.

It will be in Oubre's best interest to have this issue resolved at the soonest, with the start of the new season closing in. The former Washington Wizards player will be entering his first full season with the Suns after being traded in the middle of the 2018-19 campaign.

In 40 appearances for Phoenix last year, Oubre averaged across the board career-best marks with 16.9 points (on 45.3 percent shooting), 4.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.0 blocks, while also connecting on 1.7 three-pointers on a 32.5-percent clip.
