The Phoenix Suns resolved one of their main contract dilemmas on Sunday, as they came to terms with forward Mikal Bridges on a four-year, $90 million deal.

Bridges was set to become a restricted free agent in 2022. The Suns had until Monday to come to an agreement with Bridges on a rookie extension deal. Not only have the Suns finalized an agreement with Bridges on a deal that will tie him to the team until the 2025-2026 season, but the forward will now earn the first major payday of his career in the NBA.

After the deal was reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Bridges took to Twitter to react to his new contract deal, where he simply tweeted a meme photo of a grinning Chris Paul.

Bridges is just coming off of the most potent season of his career in the NBA. He posted a career-high in points per game (13.5) and exerted an influential impact over on the defensive end. More so, he played one vital role in the Suns' push to the 2021 NBA Finals, as he recorded three 20-point games over their playoff run.

The attention now turns as to whether center Deandre Ayton will also come to terms with Suns team officials on a rookie extension deal. If Ayton ends up not signing such a deal before the season kicks off, then he will remain on par to join several other notable players who will become restricted free agents over the 2022 free agency period.
