Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd has nothing but respect and admiration for Phoenix Suns star Chris Paul, whom he has faced countless times during his playing career.

Kidd has seen how Paul has evolved as a point guard through the years, and for him, the Suns veteran has reached the pinnacle of what it means to be an NBA point guard.

“I don't know if a lot has changed. He's just perfected the point guard position,” Kidd said of Paul, per Tim MacMahon of ESPN. “As you get more reps and you see different defenses, you start to understand what you have to do, and he knows how to move the pieces to get that advantage. When you talk about IQ, it's off the charts. Then his competitiveness is off the charts. His will is off the charts. All of the things are off the charts. What his team needs, he tends to deliver.”

There is a reason Chris Paul is called the “Point God,” and Jason Kidd certainly couldn't have said it any better.

Paul is one of the most impactful players in the NBA today, and one doesn't need to look further how he helps turn franchises into a winner. Beyond just his ability to make plays, he is a leader who has catapulted the Suns to the top of the West since his arrival.

Sure enough, the Mavs will be wary of Paul when they meet in the Western Conference Semifinals. Phoenix will always be dangerous with CP3 leading the way, and the Mavs can only hope their defense will be enough to lessen his impact.
