Phoenix Suns point guard Ricky Rubio has been ruled out against the Atlanta Hawks in Tuesday's game between the two teams, according to Suns beat writer Kellan Olson. He'll be expecting his first child. However, he plans to play on Thursday against the New York Knicks.

The 29-year-old has been phenomenal in his first season with the Suns. He's averaging a solid 13.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 9.3 assists. He's having himself a career year as he's averaging his career-best in points and assists. His 9.3 assists are currently the second-best in the league, only behind Lebron James.

He's been doing a remarkable job in his role as being a second playmaker on the team behind Devin Booker. Rubio is surprisingly the oldest player on the team, however, his experience has been extremely valuable to the young Phoenix team.

Elie Okobo will be in the starting lineup replacing Rubio. Okobo is averaging 4.9 points and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 44 percent from the field. He'll also have a tough assignment guarding Trae Young, who's averaging an astonishing 28.9 points per game.

Nonetheless, the Suns are seeking to win their third consecutive game. They're currently ranked 11th in the Western Conference with a record of 16-23.

Despite being in the bottom of the standings, they're only two games away from the Memphis Grizzlies, who are the eighth seed. However, they have the third hardest schedule remaining for the rest of the season, according to Tankathon. If the Suns continue to play games consistently, they can most certainly make a run for the lower seed of the playoffs.

They haven't been in the playoffs since 2010.
