Phoenix Suns point guard Ricky Rubio took to Twitter on Wednesday morning, expressing his excitement to play for the Spain at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo:

Rubio and Spain qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games by reaching the semifinal round and securing an outright berth at the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China.

Spain recorded its sixth consecutive victory at this year's FIBA games with a 90-78 win over Poland earlier this week. In the second quarter of that matchup, Rubio passed Argentina's Pablo Prigioni as the all-time assists leader in FIBA World Cup history. The Suns ball handler finished with 19 points, nine assists and five rebounds:

“Passing Prigioni is an honor,” Rubio told FIBA reporters. “For me growing up, watching Argentina play, it was really nice seeing Manu, Scola and Pablo Prigioni. Being in that same category as him is a huge honor.”

Rubio has been a driving force for Spain at the 2019 FIBA World Cup, and the Suns point guard will likely be looking to continue with that responsibility.

Spain's victory over Poland pushed them into the semifinal round of this yea'r FIBA tournament, where they'll be facing Australia. Both Spain and Australia are undefeated so far in this tournament, so this will be a heavyweight bout.
